Perhaps I’m a little slow, but this week I had one of those “aha moments” when I realized just how much our level of joy is linked to our hope.
I just spent a few days in a tiny house in the woods with my kiddos – an inexpensive way to escape from the duties of life (without having to sleep in a tent) and have some fun, while re-evaluating our family life and where we might need to make some changes. One of the topics of conversation was family traditions.
I always loved the idea of creating a family mission statement but the task always seemed a bit daunting. “My life is in shambles!” Have you ever felt that way? It’s one of my life long sayings and my sister jokes that it will follow me to my grave: “Here lies Kim Hill whose life is no longer in shambles.” 🙂
Failure. We’ve all been there. We’ve failed a spouse. We’ve failed a friend. We’ve failed a child. We’ve failed our parents. We’ve failed God. And if you’re like me, you walk away feeling like you’ve blown it for good and feel you should be benched….permanently.
Now that you know the story behind how in the world I unintentionally booked a flight to Germany, I want to share 6 things that made this the perfect vacation for my soul; things you may want to consider for your next get-away.
